Robert Galgano specializes in ethno history and the colonial Americas.  He has taught fourth grade in Gallup, New Mexico, apprenticed with Colonial Williamsburg's Department of Archaeological Research, and conducted archaeological excavations in Williamsburg, Jamestown, and Yorktown, Virginia.  Galgano's first book, Feast of Souls: Indians and Spaniards in the Seventeenth-Century Missions of Florida and New Mexico, compares natives' reactions to Franciscan missions and searches for points of cultural confluence and divergence.  Currently, he is working on an article examining natives, friars, and the "new mission history" and a book-length manuscript "Friendly and Strange: Indians on Virginia's Colonial Frontier."
